Send them out about three weeks ahead of time. You may want to call or send
out of town guest's earlier so they have time to prepare for travel.

Clearly the date, the time, location

Include who the shower is for and who is giving it.

If it's a surprise make sure to let your guest know.

Let them know how to reply, including your phone number (and the phone
number of the shower location for last minute directions), email or a
reply card.

If the parents are registered or you are coordinating a special gift you
can include that information (usually on a separate card or note) or let
people know when the respond.

A map to the shower is helpful.

Make sure to save an invitation for the baby's scrapbook.

Once people reply, make sure to mark who is coming and who can't make
it. If you haven't heard from someone a week after the initiations
went out, go ahead and call to make sure the invitation reached them.
